Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Kidd Flash knew at an early age that he wanted to be involved with music. Around the age of five, interest was sparked on shopping trips with his mother. Seeing how she danced and sang along with the music played over store intercom systems made him want to grow up to be the person (whoever that was) that played music for shoppers like his mother. Shortly after, he discovered mixing and Chicago's legendary radio mix team – The Hot Mix 5.
Although still very young and with no equipment except for his dad's old component set and a tape recorder, Flash set out to create his own mixes. He would play and record certain parts of a record, pause the tape recorder on beat, and then replay and record the same part again. He would re-edit whole songs and pass these "pause" mixes out to his friends and family. They were a big hit. During high school, him and his cousins put their equipment and records together and began doing parties around their neighborhood. Unfortunately, right before he left for college, the equipment and most of the records they accumulated were stolen.
Flash attended Tuskegee University and later transferred to Missouri Western State University where he earned a B.S. in Electronic Engineering Technology and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Next, he relocated to Dallas, Texas and went on to earn an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Dallas.
Because of the financial restraints of college, Flash was unable to replace the equipment and records that were stolen while in pursuit of academic goals. Still, he continued to buy records whenever he was able to with the notion that one day, when he could afford DJ equipment again, he'd be able to use them. That day did come. Once he re-established himself in the Metroplex, he put in work DJing house parties, picnics, wedding receptions, comedy shows, making mixed CD's, even djing a baby shower once, to hone his skills and fulfill his dream of DJing on the radio as one of K104's DJ's on Display. Don't be surprised if Kidd Flash's name rings a bell. You just might have heard him and one of his signature drops on a mixed CD or live in the mix on K104. "ALL I SAW WAS A BOLT OF LIGHTNING AND A BLAZE OF RED. OH. THAT WAS THE FLASH."
